Grand Canyon Flights – Tricks to Getting the Lowest Prices
Are you looking for a way to get low rates on flights over the Grand Canyon? Well, it’s pretty simple. The first step is to book it online and from there the savings spring eternal.
Below are the reasons you save money booking your tour this way…
Tour companies always post their best discounts on their official websites. Since the inception of the Internet, it’s always been this way and I don’t see it changing anytime soon.
But why would they do it? Because the tour operators have access to their real-time inventory. So if they need to fill up the seats on a certain tour, they offer special pricing so people will buy. They do this at other times too such as when they add a new tour or new aircraft that have to be filled.
Another reason is cost. Self-serve booking costs tour operators less money so they pass the savings onto you. Why is that? Because when you buy your tickets by phone, the tour operator has to charge more to pay a commission to the operator. That cost is passed onto you in the form of a booking fee or consult fee.
Something else you want to consider is if you buy your tour online, the operator will probably pressure you to upgrade your tour to a more expensive one. Once you have researched the tours, you probably know what you want and don’t want to listen to a high pressure sales pitch. This is as it should be. However, the operators are in sales and that is the way things work, they will try to get more money out of you if they can. My advice here is to book it on the Web and then call up customer service if you have follow-up questions.
But is it safe to book a tour online? My answer is a resounding “yes.” Travel websites by nature are safe and secure and I’ve yet in my 10 years of purchasing travel online had any issues. In fact, I find that booking online allows me to create a “paper trail.” So just print out your receipts and your tour information and take them with you so you can avoid any issues.
Having digital documents is even more handy if you have a smart phone. Right now, I receive all my email on my smart phone, which is great because I can access it right then and there at check in or en route to the airport. This is incredibly convenient and nearly guarantees that I’ll be prepared on all fronts concerning the trip I reserved in advance!
No matter what kind of air tour you want to take to the Grand Canyon, you can book it online. Just remember the flights take off from the airport in Tusayan, Arizona and airfields in the metro Las Vegas area. The choppers that leave out of Vegas only go to the West Rim but the planes go to both rims. If you leave from Tusayan, you can only tour the West Rim but you can go by chopper or plane. You cannot fly between the West and South Rims.
I hope this article about booking online and saving money (and time!) on Grand Canyon air tours was helpful. Just remember to pay for your tour online on the tour operator’s website. Otherwise, you will lose the Internet discount and you will pay more for your tour than you need to.
