When it comes to travelling for business, there are lots of different accommodation options out there and it can be difficult to work out which one is best for you.

With thousands of hotel chains across the globe, bed and breakfasts on every corner, and the rise of Airbnb, business travellers have never before had so much choice for working away from home.

However, many business travellers are unaware of another accommodation option which usually works out cheaper and more convenient. What’s The Best Type Of Accommodation To Choose As A Business Traveller?

But, just what are serviced apartments and why are they the best type of accommodation to choose as a business traveller?

What is a serviced apartment?

A serviced apartment is very similar to a hotel, except you get a fully-furnished apartment as opposed to a single bedroom and bathroom.

Serviced apartments usually come with multiple rooms, a kitchen and a living room, as well as a range of amenities including cleaning, WiFi, DVD players, TVs, maintenance teams, and 24-hour concierges.

They can also be rented on a long or short term basis, meaning you can easily use serviced apartments for extended business trips.

Home away from home

Some business travel can extend for weeks, or even months, so it’s really important to feel at home wherever you stay.

We spoke to Clarendon London, a serviced apartment provider, who said: “Because a serviced apartment comes fully equipped with all your usual facilities, you can settle into your accommodation rather than feeling cooped up in a single hotel room.

You can cook your own food, do your washing, relax in the living room and generally have a more homely feel during your stay, which is what our clients love the most about staying with us.”

Plus, because serviced apartments come with WiFi, you can also productively work from the apartment rather than having to seek refuge in a nearby cafe!

More space

Obviously, with extra rooms comes extra space, which is great for business travel. In fact, Conde Nast even suggests you get around 30% extra space.

With multiple different areas you can avoid the cabin fever commonly associated with hotel rooms and can easily separate different aspects of your life, rather than tripping over your suitcase to brush your teeth!

This allows you to be more productive when you work away by removing the added stress that comes with not having your own space.

A serviced apartment also makes it much easier to entertain your colleagues; you can have them over for dinner and carry on your networking after the end of your working day.

More flexibility

Unfortunately, business travel often involves unsociable hours which can be difficult to arrange around staying in a hotel, especially if your hotel has set meal times and curfew hours.

By staying in a serviced apartment, you have a much greater deal of flexibility by being able to cook your own meals and have 24-hour access to your building, meaning your work doesn’t have to fit around where you’re staying.
